Amava Oluntu is a collective of individuals and groups working together to create spaces that encourage reconnection of individuals to themselves, each other and the natural world. Amava Oluntu’s primary focus in the response to Covid-19 is to support the food security efforts of the neighbouring community in Vrygrond. The engagement is strongly linked to the mentorship of young activists from Vrygrond who collectively contribute to developments around social justice and community resilience. The collaboration with the Muizenberg Community Action Network (CAN) and Vrygrond United 4 Change has led to the establishment of 30 community kitchens and further social support systems. You can read more about this and their other projects here.
